Licences and credits
What others made that Musalea and this website use: the scores, the sounds, the paintings, the type, the data and the software, each with its source and licence.

The Method has 1,575 pieces: 52 written for it by Musalea, and 1,523 from public-domain and openly licensed editions. In the app, each piece shows its full credit: the edition, who encoded it, its licence and what we changed.

CC BY and CC BY-SA scores
A CC BY score's credit names its source and links to the original there, and the score is never encrypted or locked in a way that restricts what its licence allows.
278 pieces are shared under CC BY-SA (Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike). Our corrected version of each is shared under the same licence, and so is everything made from it: its sections, exercises and backings. Its credit marks it as changed, it is never encrypted or locked, and Export score in the app saves it as a MusicXML file with its credit and licence, whether or not your trial or plan is active.

On our servers
Our preparation service converts scores with MuseScore Studio 4 (GPL-3.0) and music21 (BSD-3-Clause), draws them with Verovio (LGPL-3.0-or-later), and makes Changes backings with Musical MIDI Accompaniment (MMA) 25.05 by Bob van der Poel and contributors (GPL-2.0-or-later). MuseScore and MMA each run unmodified as a separate program. MMA's source code is published at mellowood.ca/mma; the app's list of backing styles is taken from MMA's style libraries, under the same licence. Write to contact@inbistra.com for the complete source of the versions we run.
