What its lesson teaches

F.9 Five notes in G

Play the pupil part of Beyer’s Der Kuckuck, Op. 101 No. 11, while the app plays the teacher. Find the five notes in G, G–A–B–C–D, and count three quarter-note beats in each printed bar. Compare the same five-note pattern in C and G: in G it still needs only white keys. The sharps-and-flats card shows the black keys’ names; F sharp, the next note of the G scale, comes with the key of G at Level 1.

Technique
  • G major five-finger pattern, hands separately
